Access Legal Systems have developed software for the legal profession for over 25 years. This software is known for being robust, feature-rich and easy-to-use and the company is known for its excellent service. Access scored top marks in nearly all categories in a recent Law Society Survey for excellence of support.
With more than twenty years experience in its chosen market place and its staff - who largely comprise IT specialists with a variety of complementary skills - have extensive knowledge of the legal profession and its requirements. This knowledge has been brought to bear in developing a comprehensive range of application products to enable the legal office to take full advantage of modern technology and thereby maximise its efficiency.
The company products are fully integrated, built around a single SQL database and comprise:
Practice and Client Database
Legal Accounting and Time Recording
Time Capture
Case Management
To support these applications the company offers a full installation, training and ongoing software service programme.
The company has a substantial user base in the UK and abroad with solicitors' practices throughout England and Wales and with a significant presence in the Gulf States and in Hong Kong. Many of these clients have used the Access products for more than fifteen years and several of the earlier practices have been clients for more than twenty years. This has been made possible by the company philosophy of always enabling clients to migrate to the latest technology platforms without any loss of data.
Access Legal practice management software has always been known as a ‘hidden gem’. The company has spent 80% of their time on research and development with 10% on support and less than 5% on sales and promotion.
For these reasons, in March 2009 Access Legal Systems joined the DPS Group who have now connected their own .NET case management with the original Access database. Access users continue to use their original accounts and practice management systems and are now able to use their case management software inside MS Outlook™. This means Access users now have what is probably one of the best accounting systems on the market, which is fully integrated into the most innovative and versatile case management system.
Integrated software allows cashiering and accounts departments to use their software in the same way as before, with the added ability to view ledger cards, complete cheque and billing requests and view their targets from within MS Outlook™, saving them time.
No data conversion is necessary and the Access data is fully maintained. At the heart of both the Access Legal Practice Management System and DPS Case Management Software is a MS SQL Access Database. This database supports fully integrated applications for legal accounting, time recording, case management inside MS Outlook™, and general database functionality.
The systems are fully scalable, meaning they can support as few or as many users as required; the databases automatically scale to the required size with little or no degradation in performance.
In much the same way as DPS case management software, all reports from Access Legal software can be scheduled to be automatically created and run with results sent to users as email attachments.
